Dal Tadka
Ingredients:-
• Dal - 1 cup (Toor Dal)
• Onion - 1 chopped
• Green chili - 2 chopped
• Tomato- 1
• Salt to taste
• Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
• Coriander - Fist finely chopped
Tadka
• Oil - 2 tbsp
• Dry red chili - 2
• Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
• Cumin - 1/4 tsp
• Asafoetida - a pinch
• Garlic - 5 cloves (finely chopped)
• Curry leaves - 5-6
• Ghee - 1 tbsp
Way:-
• Dal fry
• Pressure cook till the dal is well cooked but not soft for about 2 whistles and keep aside (traditional toor dal is used but you can use any other dal).
• Heat oil in a pan, when the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, cumin, curry leaves and dry red chilies.
• Stir it and add asafoetida and turmeric powder to it.
• After this, add finely chopped garlic buds and fry on low flame till it turns brown.
• After this add onions and fry for some time. Add some chopped tomatoes and fry them too.
• Add required amount of salt to the cooked toovar dal and let it cook for eight to ten minutes till all the flavors are blended. Add water as required in your desired thickness.
• Add finely chopped coriander leaves, a teaspoon of ghee and turn it off.
Your dal is ready, serve it hot with roti, paratha.
